Meet the friendly ZOOfriends Staff
Mandy Heaps is an experienced fundraiser and nonprofit leader committed to creating collaborative environments where donors and volunteers feel engaged with the organization and empowered to make a difference in their community through philanthropy.
Mandy has been a development professional for seventeen years and previously worked for Oklahoma State University Foundation, Oklahoma City University, United Way of Central Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma Humane Society, and Public Strategies, Inc.
Mandy is a long-time community volunteer serving in roles and organizations where she can execute long-term strategies. She is a past president of the Junior League of Oklahoma City as well as the Association for Women in Communications and is a graduate of LOYAL Class III. She served as chapter advisor for her sorority, Alpha Phi, at Oklahoma City University where she was awarded the Greek Advisor of the Year award in 2018. Mandy has also been recognized the past two years as one of the 50 Most Powerful Young Professionals by the OKC Friday.
Although she grew up in Florida, Mandy has found her home in Oklahoma City. She graduated with a BA in Mass Communication from Oklahoma City University and had the privilege of serving as the university’s student body president. She continued her studies at the University of Oklahoma and earned her MA in Journalism and Mass Communication. Mandy and her husband, Rob Vera, are proud residents of NE Oklahoma City and live with their cats, Vicki Vale and Archie.
